Inspiration for New Ovarian Cancer Awareness Jewelry

How can it already be time to introduce the next cause of the month? This year is flying by! With September here, it’s time to let the cat out of the bag- this month’s cause is… Ovarian Cancer. I’m so excited about this brand new design and I can’t wait to share my inspiration and it’s significance with you. Keep reading for the inside scoop on this new design and our charity partner for the month. September Charity Partner

This month’s charity partner is Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA). For every piece sold from the Support Ovarian Cancer Collection, they’ll receive 10% of gross profit to continue their life-saving efforts.

OCRA is the leading organization in the world fighting ovarian cancer. They use their resources to push the cause forward by funding research, advocating for support from our country’s leaders & supporting women and their families through their diagnosis, treatments & beyond.

OCRA is “the voice for the ovarian cancer community, working with legislators to ensure federal ovarian cancer research and education, patient safety, and access to high-quality care are protected on Capitol Hill.” They also work tirelessly to help women navigate their diagnosis and support patients and their families when they need it most. Later this month, their annual conference will be hosted virtually, making it much easier to attend. I’ll be there and encourage you to check it out as well- register here.

Design Inspiration

When I was creating this design, I was thinking of a beautiful and delicate flower. How growing flowers takes constant care and attention. It takes the proper amount of soil, food, water and sunlight to be successful. You cannot plant the seed and then ignore it- it requires your attention and care daily. After you give your plant all of these things, that is when you’re rewarded with a gorgeous flower. And while they may seem to be very fragile, they are actually in a lot of ways, very resilient.

Is this not a metaphor for ourselves? We need to remember that we deserve to be cared for and tended to daily. How often do you forget about self-care? I’m guilty of this constantly. But if we remember to take care by focusing attention, loving and even getting some sunshine, we will blossom like a beautiful, strong flower and this strength will radiate to those around us.

So how does this idea relate to the Ovarian Cancer cause? I think it’s especially important to remember this concept of self-care when you’re going through a diagnosis, caring for a loved one, or mourning their loss. Plus, the petal shapes represent, “Petals of Courage.” Find your strength to fight & remember to take good care of yourself at the same time. Honor your battle and show your courage to others by spreading awareness & turning this disease into a positive.
